- Gamakas are not supported in this version. The app checks the steady position of each swara, so sing plain swaras without gamaka for an accurate score.
- Using the Sruti drone? Listen to it on headphones and sing into an external mic (USB or lapel). No external mic? A wired headset with a mic (e.g. Apple EarPods, about $19) does both. Without the drone, the built-in mic is fine.

How it works
The app listens about 60 times a second and finds the pitch of your voice. Each pitch is matched to the nearest swara of the selected raga, in any sthayi, and compared with that swara's exact position for your Sa. A note counts once it is held for a quarter of a second; its pitch is taken from the steady part, ignoring the slide into it. The swara score falls from 100% when exactly on pitch to 0% at the strictness limit (for example ±125 cents for Balanced; 100 cents = one semitone). A cycle starts when you sing the first Sa and ends after the avarohana returns to Sa. Your singing is then lined up against the expected arohana and avarohana: stray notes from glides are ignored, skipped swaras score 0%, and the cycle score is the average over all swaras.
Advanced: edit or add a raga (optional; changes apply only on this device)
Any raga can be edited, including the built-in ones, to match your patantharam (e.g. Behag, Begada, Kedaragowla). Click Edit selected raga, change the arohana/avarohana, then Save changes. Edited ragas show ✎ in the list, and Restore original brings back the built-in version.
Swara codes, separated by spaces: S R1 R2 R3 G1 G2 G3 M1 M2 P D1 D2 D3 N1 N2 N3. Add ' for tara sthayi (S') and a leading . for mandra sthayi (.N3). Write vakra (zig-zag) ragas in the order they are sung. A swara may be used in two forms (e.g. M1 and M2 in Behag).
